We are pleased to announce that applications are open for the next round of Sawa Sawa Programmes – with the next programme to run in Ghana from 4th May (arrival) to 18th May (departure).
The programme is to be grounded in experiential learning; with participants being guided on the learning tour by the facilitators and expected to report back their observations for discussion with the entire group. Various changemaking projects will be visited, and the key changemakers interviewed by the participants. Whereas the focus of the last programme in Ghana was the changemaking projects, this year’s event will zoom in on the changemaker as a person.
The programme includes a one-day arrival orientation, nine-day changemaking training, and three-day educational tour, and will introduce you to Accra, Cape Coast and Nzulenzu (in the Western Region of Ghana).
The changemaking projects to be visited are:
- Nima Mihanmunchi Art
- Ashesi University College
- Yamoransa Village
- Nzulenzu Village
- The University of Ghana
- The Street Children Empowerment Foundation
- Bukom
- Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology
COST: The cost for the two-week programme is R20,000, which includes the cost of a return flight from Johannesburg (you will need to arrange your own transport to OR Tambo International Airport), visa costs, and programme costs in Ghana which includes accommodation and meals (you will need to provide your own spending money).
DEADLINE: Applications need to be in the AFS national office by Friday April 7th. For more information, please contact [email protected]
