Support: AFS provides constant support participants and families
AFS will support participants before, during, and after the program. AFS holds orientations that will allow the participants to be immersed into the culture. The health, safety, and well-being of the participants are the first priority for AFS, and that’s why all Global Families take part in a screening process to confirm that they are able to host a school exchange student.
Health Restrictions
Egypt’s COVID-19 entry restrictions were lifted on June 17, 2022. Previously, travelers who did not have a valid vaccination certificate needed to take a COVID-19 PCR or antigen test before flying. However, this will be discussed and assessed at time of departure.
VISA Requirements
Applicants will need to apply for a visa for long stay programmes.

During your exchange you will be able to immerse yourself in the realm of culinary sophistication as you savor the timeless delicacies, or culinary traditions that dates back to ancient times, showcasing Egypt’s rich gastronomic heritage.
Participants will have access to a range and widely available halaal foods and will experience the Egyptian way of nourishment, characterized by a diverse range of ingredients such as beans, bread, rice, vibrant vegetables, and luscious fruits. During the program there will be opportunities to sample the street food scene and enjoy popular treats like falafel, crispy fried bean balls, and kosher, a mouthwatering combination of rice and lentils available from street vendors throughout Egypt.

While the majority of our students are hosted in the bustling capital of Greater Cairo, we also offer placements in eight other cities across the country, providing diverse experiences that showcase the beauty and diversity of Egypt.

However, we also believe in offering our students a wider perspective by providing placements in other captivating cities, allowing them to explore the country’s rich geographical tapestry.
While accommodating boys with host families can be more challenging, we strive to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all students, regardless of their gender. Our priority is to create enriching experiences that facilitate educational growth and cultural immersion.
